Violent crimes committed by adults appear to be on the increase here in the Virgin Islands, and sadly, the juvenile population is also emerging as a group that commits violent crimes or is involved in some form of criminal activity. In the past decade and even in recent years, we have lost youths to violent crime on school campuses, community social events and in our small neighborhoods. If this current trend persists we will experience further dramatic increases in juvenile violent crime unless we take immediate action.
