In accordance with 4 V.I. Code Ann. ยง 76(a), effective October 1, 1991, the Superior Court obtained
original jurisdiction over all local civil actions regardless of the amount in controversy.
The jurisdiction is subject to the original jurisdiction conferred on the District Court by Section
22 of the Revised Organic Act of 1954, as amended.
Civil actions are brought to enforce, redress or protect private rights. No monetary value is necessary
to constitute a civil action.
